TEXTILES IN TOURISM ARE REGAINED THROUGH RECYCLING
At the seminar titled “The Rebirth of Fabric”, held in Marmaris through the cooperation of the Marmaris Housekeeping Education Association (MAHED) and the Manavgat Tourism Hoteliers and Operators Association (MATOB), the recycling of textile fabric materials used in tourism and their reintegration into the economy was discussed.

Hosted by MAHED President Ayla Yarıcı at the Marmaris Chamber of Tradesmen and Artisans Hall, the seminar featured a presentation by Nezahat Kaymak, Chair of MATOB’s Audit Board and a Housekeeping Education Specialist. In her presentation, “The Rebirth of Fabric”, Kaymak emphasized that reusing hotel textile waste through effective recycling projects is an integral part of sustainable tourism.

She provided information on recycling models; their contribution to the circular economy; benefits to social responsibility; contributions to sustainable tourism; cost savings achieved by turning waste into value; and the new employment opportunities—especially for unemployed homemakers—that can be created through cooperation with women’s cooperatives engaged in textile recycling.
Nezahat Kaymak concluded her presentation with the words:
“Our goal is not only to protect the environment, but also to contribute to society by fostering a strong sense of social responsibility.”
