ORTACA TO GET A MODERN ANIMAL SHELTER WITH SUPPORT FROM MUĞLA METROPOLITAN MUNICIPALITY

Ortaca, a district of Muğla, is set to gain a modern animal shelter for stray animals. The approximately 15,000-square-meter facility, whose construction has been initiated by Ortaca Municipality, will be completed with an investment of 48 million TL, supported by Muğla Metropolitan Municipality.

Journalist Ata Sevgi, representative of AjansCANKA, paid a courtesy visit to Ortaca Mayor Evren Tezcan at his office. During the visit, Sevgi presented Mayor Tezcan with a special personalized print of the world-famous portrait of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, originally drawn in 1969 by renowned Atatürk artist Etem Çalışkan and featuring Atatürk’s signature. The gift was offered in commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye and the third year of its second century.
Expressing his satisfaction with the visit, Mayor Evren Tezcan provided information about the municipality’s ongoing projects. He stated that, with the support of Muğla Metropolitan Municipality, construction of a new shelter for stray animals has begun and is expected to be completed within approximately eight months. The facility will then begin operating under the name Ortaca Municipality Animal Care and Rehabilitation Center.

71 LIVING AREAS OF 100 SQUARE METERS EACH AND VETERINARY CLINIC SERVICES

Providing details at the construction site, Ortaca Deputy Mayor Hüsnü Sarı and Director of Municipal Veterinary Services, Veterinarian Hamit Demir, emphasized that the shelter will not only offer a safe living environment for stray animals but will also significantly improve animal healthcare services in the region.
They stated: “Since 2020, we have been providing care, treatment, and rehabilitation services for stray animals at the Dalaman Municipality Animal Shelter. In the coming period, these services will continue under more comprehensive and modern conditions at the Ortaca Municipality Animal Care and Rehabilitation Center.
The facility, to be established on an area of approximately 15,000 square meters, will have a capacity of 710 dogs and will become one of the region’s most important animal care and rehabilitation centers.
The administrative building will include an operating room, examination room, veterinarian’s office, staff rooms, waste management unit, and various support facilities. The examination and surgical units will be equipped with state-of-the-art devices and equipment to ensure the most effective diagnosis and treatment of stray animals.
The center will feature 71 open living areas, each measuring 100 square meters, with a maximum of 10 animals accommodated in each area in accordance with animal welfare standards. This will ensure healthier, safer, and more natural living conditions for the animals.
To ensure efficient operation of the center, a specialized team consisting of one veterinarian, one veterinary technician, one veterinary assistant, two animal ambulance drivers, and three animal caretakers will be employed. Our experienced staff will carefully manage the care, treatment, rehabilitation, and adoption processes of stray animals.
The center is expected to become operational in approximately eight months and will be built at a cost of around 48 million TL, thanks to the substantial support provided by Muğla Metropolitan Municipality and Metropolitan Mayor Ahmet Aras.” Source: AjansCANKA
