The amateur series of the world’s most prestigious cycling race, the Tour de France — “L’Étape Series by Tour de France” — will be held this year in two different cities in Türkiye.

The amateur series of the world’s most prestigious cycling race, the Tour de France — “L’Étape Series by Tour de France” — will be held this year in two different cities in Türkiye.
              Organized in 35 cities across 20 countries, with the participation of thousands of cycling enthusiasts worldwide, the amateur cycling race “L’Étape by Tour de France” will be hosted by Marmaris on June 7 with the “L’Étape Marmaris by Tour de France”, and by Istanbul on September 20 with the “L’Étape Türkiye by Tour de France.”
             
The press launch of “L’Étape Marmaris by Tour de France,” held yesterday (January 28, 2026) at Martı Resort Hotel, took place with the participation of Muğla Deputy Governor Halil Serdar Cevheroğlu, Marmaris District Governor Nurullah Kaya, Marmaris Mayor Acar Ünlü, Turkish Cycling Federation Vice President Metin Cengiz, İş Bankası Individual Banking Marketing Communications Unit Manager Gökçe Görgülü Ölçer, Visa Türkiye Marketing President Ülkü Yüksel, Yüce Auto–Škoda Marketing Manager Burcu Bozkurt Şafaklıoğlu, A.S.O. L’Étape Series by Tour de France Project Manager Mathieu Clanchin, A.S.O. Strategy and Business Development Project Manager Marin Grisard, and L’Étape Türkiye by Tour de France Organization Director and 78 Event General Manager Ömer Kafkas.

A SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTION TO MARMARIS’ SPORTS TOURISM


            Speaking at the launch, Marmaris Mayor Acar Ünlü stated:
              “L’Étape by Tour de France Marmaris is a highly valuable organization that brings together the 123-year tradition of the Tour de France with Marmaris’ natural beauty and sports vision. With its cycling routes, courses, and natural infrastructure, Marmaris is a strong destination for this event. Our aim is for this race to become sustainably established in the city, to develop cycling culture, and to contribute to Marmaris’ sports and tourism brand in the long term. We believe this international organization, which will be broadcast in 90 countries, will add significant value to Marmaris.”
              With the institutional support of the Muğla Governorship, Marmaris District Governorship, Muğla Metropolitan Municipality, Marmaris Municipality, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA), Muğla Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports, and the Turkish Cycling Federation, and in cooperation with Yüce Auto–Škoda, Mosso Bicycle, Shimano Türkiye, and Martı Resort Hotel, the event will feature a 96-kilometer long course and a 66-kilometer short course.
              Athletes who place in their respective categories at the end of the races will earn the right to participate in L’Étape du Tour in France, gaining the privilege of cycling on France’s legendary Tour de France routesAjansCANKA
