MEDITERRANEAN ANGELS LEAVE THEIR MARK ON THE INTERNATIONAL MEDITERRANEAN YACHT CHAMPIONSHIP The trophies have found their owners at the 3rd International Mediterranean Yacht Championship, organized this year by the Marmaris International Yacht Sports Club (MIYC), while the “Mediterranean Angels” became one of the most memorable highlights of the event.
A total of 300 athletes competed on 31 sailing yachts in the championship held in the Gulf of Marmaris between April 27 and May 1, with participants from the host country Türkiye as well as the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Germany, Belarus, Estonia, France, Russia, Kazakhstan, Moldova, and Ukraine.
MEDITERRANEAN ANGELS SET SAIL AGAINST CANCER
The all-female team “Mediterranean Angels,” competing aboard the yacht Agile under the captaincy of Tunca Çalışkan, finished third in their group and won hearts with their meaningful message during the races and at the award ceremony. The team - Bahar Çetinay, Funda Metin, Tuğba Gazi, Buse Levent, Güler Çelik, Zahide Önal Tunç, Nadide Çakıcı, Ege Üte, Funda Ünal, Melek Gençsoy, and Merve Çağlayan - highlighted their collaboration with the Turkish Cancer Association, stating: "Together with the Turkish Cancer Association, we aim to reach more people by touching lives through free screening, early diagnosis, and patient support efforts in the field of cancer—especially breast cancer—while raising public awareness." Their message of awareness and social responsibility left a lasting impression on the audience.
